Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Jorge A. Jaramillo Jr. was raised in South Florida, growing up in a bi-cultural environment. His passion for the law began early through his participation in American Heritage School’s Pre-Law Program, laying the foundation for his future legal career.
Jorge is a highly skilled trial attorney with extensive experience litigating cases on both sides of the courtroom. As a former Assistant State Attorney and Assistant Public Defender in Florida’s Fifth Judicial Circuit, he has handled thousands of cases from both sides of the aisle, from misdemeanors to first-degree felonies punishable by life imprisonment.
As a prosecutor, Jorge gained invaluable insight into how the State builds its cases, working alongside law enforcement, forensic experts, and crime victims to pursue convictions. His time as an Assistant Public Defender further honed his advocacy skills, representing clients facing complex legal challenges, including those involving mental health issues, substance abuse, and severe criminal allegations. His ability to analyze cases from both perspectives allows him to craft strategic, aggressive defenses tailored to each client’s unique situation.
Jorge earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law, where he was awarded a Dean’s Merit Scholarship. While in law school, he participated in the Startup Practicum, providing pro bono legal guidance to emerging businesses. He also holds a B.A. in Legal Studies from the University of Central Florida.
A trial lawyer at heart, Jorge is known for his relentless advocacy, sharp litigation skills, and unwavering commitment to protecting his clients’ rights. Whether in the courtroom or in negotiations, he fights tirelessly to secure the best possible outcome for those he represents.
Outside of his legal practice, Jorge enjoys traveling, exploring new cuisines, and spending time with his wife and fellow attorney, Caitlin. Together, they love golfing and taking on escape room challenges.
